I am a master of pretentious titles.
pls fullview, cos the thumbnail makes everything look totally uniform @_@

So... sup guys? This was a fun ink experiment, after someone saw a drawing of a.. fu-dog/dragon/lion/THING in my sketchbook and said I should consider making it a full picture. So I did! I started it randomly and worked myway from there...

Another one of those things that was just -made- and ideas fell into my head as I was drawing it. I had no conceptions of it except what it looks like. After I've finished I think I've actually come up with some ideas for it  Woot! Some vague stuff for my story, because all stories need some history and folklore to enrich them. Feel free to think of your own too! I'm open :)

I'm actually really enjoying ink lately, it's fun to play around with, and well, I kinda like really detailed inkwork. It's a fetish, sure.

I'm sure there are a billion perspective problems with this, as I have noticed since finishing, but I don't think I care right now!

Enjoy~!

I really don't think the title is that pretentious. If anything, I think it enhances the picture.

I love the little details everywhere, like the cracks in teh flagstones, and the little ropes and murals on the pillars. Just good stuff.

and the fu beasty is just so cool looking. he looks very light and airy. i expect wisps of him to float off.

it honestly looks like some apprentice mage summoned a higher spirit to continue her learning. so i think the title it perfect. any plans to color it?

The fu-beast is wonderful; it looks like it's made of smoke.

Là nel vasto mare devi incominciare!
Lì si comincia da ciò che è piccolo
E si gode d'ingoiare i piccolissimi;
Così si cresce, lenti, a poco a poco,
E ci si forma verso più alti compimenti.

I love it - I'm going to show it to my wife, I think she'll love it too!
Ooh, now that's really cool! I love all the randomness of the lion's mane, and the girlie is lovely, too!

Wow! That is unbelievably cool! I love fu dogs, and this is one of the best interpretations I've seen in a long time.
I'd like to see this in color.

Insanity is only a perception made by those who have yet to attain its greatness. While those of us who have already stepped inside its bounds find bliss in our utter madness.
Alright, here's my story :
On the path to enlightenment a high priestess must face and overcome three demons of her own making - this is Judgement, the final. He knows her insecurities and her doubts, and before enlightenment he will lay his judgement upon her. More plainly, she must judge and find herself worthy of the honor. He, however, is a flesh and blood beast and if he judges her unworthy he can rend her soul from her body and devour it, giving him the strength and power to escape. The other priestesses always know when one of their own has failed because they have to face the freed demon and destroy it. Should he judge her worthy, she ascends to a higher plane and becomes divine, sending guidance to her sister priestesses through oracles. Few priestesses even attempt enlightenment and fewer achieve it.

Peter: Lois, um, go get the medical dictionary and look up "fork" and "lung."
Lois: Why?
Peter: Time is a factor, Lois.

Holy Jebus. How long did that take? All the curls and flames look like this took hours. Amazing work. Do you really want us to post the story that this conjures in our head or should we keep it to ourselves?

If you're reading this, then I'm probably putting something off at the moment.
